Taxis have moods. I firmly believe this. There are many things I can tell you about taxis. I can tell you, just by the way a driver slides his taxi along the stage, if he is the kind in a hurry or “pretend hurry.” The tease who keeps threatening he is about to set off, raising hopes of the trapped passengers, only to dash them by reversing back onto the stage.

There is enough condemnation from society when a lady gets pregnant out of wedlock. But when you are a devoted church-goer or worse still, a leader of sorts in the church, the scathing judgmental attitude of your brethren may be something you have never imagined Christians are capable of. Damalie Nabasirye, a dental surgeon and worship leader at her church then, still lives with some stigma that came from her experience when she got pregnant out of wedlock.

She saw how the war started, a terrible memory that she looks back at with sadness. Then a Cease-fire agreement between the Lord’s Resistant Army (LRA) rebels and the Ugandan government in 2006, breathed hope for a better life in Northern Uganda. But then, there was more needed than the promises of resettlement and rebuilding the communities, especially among the women. When Eunice Apio saw this gap, she knew she had to fill it. The human rights’ activist in her could not rest until she had done something.

If we are to learn anything from the play of Oedipus, the Greek mythology, it is that a mother and son relationship could get a lot scarier than calling her every day and singing her praises every waking moment. Oedipus killed his father and married his mother. While it is just mythology and the average mummy’s boy thinks it can never get to that, it reminds us that there is too much attachment, which necessitates that those strings be cut.

Easter’s here. It is an amazing time to send some of the carbohydrates floating around in world to the lower part of your belly. It is also a great time to spend time on urbanlegendkampala.com. You can also use this time to re-evaluate the unrealistic goals you set at the beginning of the year.
