Last Sunday, he passed on with the wife in a plane crash with seven others as they headed to the Global Leaders Conference in The Great Bahamas. Myles Munroe was a widely known and respected evangelist who died on November 9th, 2014. His death came as a shock to many who looked up to him for inspiration. He will forever be remembered for his good works and inspirational messages. Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about the late preacher.

1.Myles Munroe was born on April 20, 1954 in Nassau, Bahamas and was a lifetime resident in his home land.

2.He graduated with a degree in fine arts, education and theology from the Oral Roberts University in 1978 at age 24, became a Masters degree holder in administration from the University of Tulsa in 1980 at age 26. Munroe had received several honorary doctorate degrees over the years.

3. Dr Munroe had two children from the marriage to his late wife Ruth Ann Munroe - a daughter Charisa Munroe and a son Chairo Myles Jr and emphasised that his family was his greatest responsibility and his marriage was his most sacred trust.

4. Dr Munroe was the founder of Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI) - a non-profit Christian growth and resource centre, and Myles Munroe International (MMI) - an outreach center which includes leadership training institutes, a missions agency, a publishing company, a television network, radio and Web communications, and a church community.

5. He wrote over 38 books on several life issues including sex, family relationships, finance and spiritual growth. Some of his best selling books include Waiting and Dating, The Spirit of Leadership, Rediscovering the Kingdom, Understanding Your Potential, and God’s Big Idea. His books have received rave reviews and some of them have even been translated in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

6. He was a father, pastor, preacher, author and motivational speaker who traveled round the world pulling a crowd of about 500,000 people annually including governments leaders, business men and women, students and church congregations in the past forty years. Munroe also served as a business consultant to Fortune 500 companies and corporations.

7. He was given the Silver Jubilee Award for providing 25 years of outstanding service to the Bahamas in the category of Faith in the year 1998 and became Bahamas’ youngest recipient of the Queen’s Birthday Honors of the Oder of The British Empire (OBE) Award that same year, which was bestowed on him by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of England for his spiritual and social contributions to the national development of his nation.

8. The late Munroe who also served as an adjunct professor of the Graduate School of Theology at Oral Roberts University, was named the University’s Alumnus of the year in 2004 and received an honorary doctorate from them.

9. He placed an emphasis on the Kingdom of God and believed that the whole Bible, along with the message of Jesus, revolves around the kingdom and not a religion.

10. One of his favourite quotes on marriage is, “Marital faithfulness involves more than just sexual fidelity.
Being faithful to your wife also means defending her and affirming her beauty, intelligence, and integrity at all times, particularly before other people.

Faithfulness to your husband means sticking up for him, always building him up and never tearing him down.
