“I thought that with such campaigns, the people in charge choose their friends or relatives but I am really grateful about the honesty Monitor Publications Limited has displayed in the competition,” an exhilated Felix Gift Lwanga, says.
He is the lucky winner of the just concluded Honeymoon in the Wild competition.
The competition has awarded four lucky couples prosaic moments that only the winners can describe.
Sunday Monitor in partnership with Wild Places and Geo Lodges run a campaign dubbed Honeymoon in the Wild that started on May 10 and was supposed to run until December.
The campaign’s intention was to give couples wedded in 2015 the opportunity to spend a fully paid honeymoon in the wild.
Some of the lodges where couples were to spend unforgettable time together include, Semliki Safari Lodge, Nile Safari Lodge, Jacana Safari Lodge, the Rainforest Lodge and Equator Snow Lodges, among others.
Participation in the campaign required buying a copy of the Sunday Monitor, cutting out a coupon, filling in the details and dropping it at any of the MPL offices countrywide such as Gulu, Mbarara, Masaka, Jinja, Mbale, Fortportal and Arua.
“I have been participating since May and I feel rewarded for my persistence,” says Lwanga, who was inspired to participate in the competition because he loved the concept and thrill that the slogan “Honeymoon in the Wild” created.
“When you mention certain places, it is believed that we Africans cannot afford such places, but I thought it would be a great adventure for my wife and I to explore nature while building and creating a strong relationship for us.”
Felix and Rebecca Lwanga met in 2012 while he was working in Kibaale as a lecturer in a university, and an assistant accountant. Rebecca was his student. The two got married on July 26.
“I love what Life Magazine does and the stories that are published in the magazine. I am so grateful and the moment I told my wife, she was very excited too and is looking forward to an unforgettable experience,” Lwanga shared. The winners will enjoy their holiday at Jacana Safari Lodge.
