Classy café, poor location

Café Bravo made its debut in 2012 and was a welcome change to the run down once famous Nile Grill. The owners who hail from Somalia ably cut their spurs over the last four years on Kampala Road. They have decided to branch out to Kansanga.

Spreading one’s wings is not bad and, in order to create a brand one has to cast one’s net afar and seek out new clients elsewhere. Ggaba Road is not the best of choices for a café of that design and with parking being a nightmare, all events do not augur well for Café Bravo.

Menu offer
Café Bravo’s menu is cosmopolitan with burgers, steaks, sandwiches, wraps, a myriad of salads and other favourite Continental runners.

I enjoyed the falafel which is a favourite Middle Eastern veggie treat served in pita bread with chick peas or garbanzo beans. I also recommend their grilled chicken that is juicy and tasty and healthy by virtue of being grilled as opposed to being deep fried.

Ambience and bill
The new Café Bravo is hospitable, neat, and trendy while the service is very much on the money. However, despite having done up the place nicely and I’m sure they have spent a pretty penny, Kabalagala/Kansanga is simply not Kampala road and where they are off the main Ggaba Road there is hardly any pedestrian traffic worth speaking of save for the students of KIU who are not the type to spend Shs 2,500 for a soda or Shs 7,000 for coffee.

Verdict
I am of the view that it could very well be a case of a good idea but wrong setting. Parking is another problem; at most they can park six cars which is nothing to write home about. All indications are that this particular Café Bravo is destined to be a white elephant.

Last but not least, they do not serve booze which might have attracted imbibers in the area.
