Fourth Dimension: Christians are true martyrs

The increased call to security alertness also calls for an increased conviction of heaven as the destiny of those who don’t follow the way of the terrorists. There will always be murderers in the name of religion and other senseless excuses. These murderers are driven by personal frustration and anger that is covered up in religious fanaticism. Having lost hope, they seek to make the whole world hopeless. Although they put on the cloak of religion, they are ravenous wolves seeking to prey on any vulnerable people. In reference to such persons, one Proverb says ‘it is better to find a bear robbed of its cubs than a fool in his folly’.
Similar to the case of Steven, the first New Testament martyr, terror perpetrators are offended by the freedom that the world enjoys because of the gospel of Jesus. Acts 7 records the contention between the religious zealots and the gospel liberated Steven. It is critical to notice what gave Steven the cutting edge over the assailants: “Hearing these things, they were cut to the heart and moved with wrath against Steven. But he was full of the Holy Spirit, and looking up to heaven, he saw the glory of God and Jesus at the right hand of God. And he said, Now I see heaven open and the Son of man at the right hand of God. But with loud cries, and stopping their ears, they made an attack on him all together, Driving him out of the town and stoning him:”
Steven, full of the Holy Spirit, had a living vibrant relationship with the true God. He had a clear vision of this true God and the way to live with Him forever. He saw Jesus in His rightful place and purpose. He saw heaven open to him. He had what could not be destroyed by human hands. Just like Jesus taught the disciples, we need not be afraid of those who can only kill the body but cannot determine our eternal destiny.
For sure no one wants to die at the hands of these frustrated and deceived humans, but we cannot and should not live our lives driven by their madness. For this reason we tighten security and strengthen our resilience to defeat them on all fronts.
No suicide missions
But where their evil schemes surpass our alertness, we must have that vision of heaven that cannot be destroyed by man. While they think they are earning their place in heaven by killing the innocent on behalf of God, we must know that because of our faith in Jesus, heaven is opened to us and not them. Their Satan driven beliefs and acts disqualify them from heaven and guarantee their place in hell with the one whose character they continue to emulate.
Though Steven was killed, His death promoted him to glory. This remains true for all who whole -heartedly embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is those who live or die in the faith in Jesus that are the true martyrs, not those who commit suicide missions.
