Kim Swagga’s versatile style

What you need to know:

SO TRENDY. Over time, Kim Swagga has been able to establish himself as a true fashionista and also one of the leading fashion stylists in Kampala.

The fashion forward lad will make even the most tattered of pieces come off looking very eye-catching. He shares his style story.

What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion is a necessity. It’s not just a source of income. It’s the way I am able to express my artistic element to the world.

Aside from Chameleone, what other celebrities have you worked with in line to fashion styling?
I have worked with almost all celebrities, both female and male. This list includes Keko, Juliana, David Lutalo, Mesach Ssemakula, King Saha, and Idris, the Big Brother representative from Tanzania.

How would you describe your style?
My style is versatile. I am always open to stepping out of my comfort zone and switching up my looks.

Do you have any memorable fashion blunder?
I think I have had a lot of them but don’t have any particular one that is worth mentioning.

How easy is it for you to pick out your outfits?
It’s as easy as tearing a piece of paper. I have mastered the craft, so I can even come up with a cool outfit in a few seconds.

What is the one item that you are bound to be caught wearing a lot?
That would be a cap/hat. It’s my best accessory and definitely the best way to complete my look.

Which are the easiest colours for you to work with?
Those would be black and white. These are timeless shades.

What is the dominant item in your wardrobe?
I don’t have anything in particular that dominates the rest. Every item I purchase for my wardrobe is necessary and I use it accordingly.

What is your worst buy ever?
None. I am a very prompt but critical shopper.

Is there a particular fashion trend you would not recommend for your male clients?
Not really. As long they don’t wear dresses and bras. (laughs)
As a stylist, how easy is it working on both the male and female clients?
They are both easy to work with. As long as the client trusts me as their stylist and is willing to be flexible with style, we are good to go.
