Look cool in shorts

Shorts in a bright hue are stylish

What you need to know:

Nail it. Dressing up in shorts is not all about picking up any pair from your wardrobe and walking around. Gloria Haguma shares tips on what you should consider if you are to look better in that piece of cloth.

Ordinarily, shorts seem like one of the easiest looks to pull off. I mean, ,all you need is to throw on those shorts, a T-shirt and, the nearest pair of slippers you can get your hands on.
Effortless as it seems, though, pulling off a look with shorts may turn out more complicated, than you had imagined. To begin with, factors like length of the shorts, the textures, and even the versatility could make your look go blunder.

The length
To begin with, let’s focus on the length. Now, for starters, your height plays the number one factor here; because the wrong shorts length will make you appear shorter and plumb or a little taller than you actually are, in all the wrong ways.

Your height
If you are tall, have your shorts’ hem finish just above the knee, and this will help balance your look. If possible, also opt for folded hems as these will help create an illusion of thickness to thinner legs.

For the shorter men, let your shorts stop slightly above the knees so that your legs appear longer, giving you a raised lower look. Also opt for the straight hems.

The fabric
Obviously, you want to set yourself apart from the “down town” man, who simply picks out anything that looks like shorts. So that means your shorts should come in fabrics like linen and cotton. These give a more dressy look and make the statement.
Versatility

Whenever you go out shopping, you want to invest in an item that will be able to match at least half your wardrobe. In the same way, always stick to short prints and patterns, that are versatile enough for you to switch them in over five different looks.

Always go for neutral shades, and even when you want to have some prints on your shirts, floral, and polka dots should be the last options. These are great, but you may end up wearing them with only one particular blazer and T-shirt.
