What you need to know:

LOVE YOU. Magala Muguluma, an IT officer at National Social Security Fund, walked down the aisle Teddy Mukasa at Rubaga Cathedral on March 20, 2015. The newlyweds took Deus Bugembe through their wedding journey.

When and how did you meet?
Teddy: I first met Cornelius while at campus in 2009, at a mutual friend’s beach party he was in Kyambogo University and I was at Makerere University.
Cornelius: Teddy first caught my eye while I was still at Campus in 2009, we had gone for a beach party with mutual friends and I talked to her for the first time.

When did you become close?
Cornelius: After the beach party we met again after campus in July 2010 at a mutual friend’s introduction ceremony. Then, we exchanged contacts and stayed in touch.
Teddy: We were at a friend’s introduction ceremony when he called me by my name. It took me by surprise because I could not even recall who he was.

Did he propose to you, when and how did you react?
Teddy: Yes, Cornelius proposed to me on my 25th birthday (January 26, 2014). It was a surprise because I didn’t expect it that soon. I couldn’t hold back my tears and it was in the presence of our friends and family.

What attracted you to each other?
Cornelius: Teddy was a reserved lady, a character trait we share. She is also hard working and prayerful.
Teddy: He had all the qualities I needed in a husband. Both physical and behavioural. He had the dark complexion and smile that sweep me off my feet. He is a prayerful Catholic, reserved and patient.

What was your budget and how did you raise the funds?
Cornelius: Our budget was about Shs65m and we raised funds through friends and family during wedding meetings.

Did you involve a planner?
Cornelius: No, we just had an organised and committed committee with different individuals who played their individual roles.
Teddy: Cornelius and I were the primary planners.

What were you doing on your wedding eve?
Cornelius: I went to salon for a haircut, did my mani

-cure, facial treatment and a massage. Then, I joined my family for the rest of the day.
Teddy: I spent most of the day at my parent’s home in mukono, saying the last goodbyes because I was about to leave them forever.

How did you come up with the guest list?
Cornelius: We gave out invitation cards and the guest list only comprised guests who missed out on cards. We invited those who had been part of our journey.
Teddy: We focused on family and close friends.

Were you disappointed in any way?
Cornelius: No, everything was on point throughout.
Teddy: Yes, my salon lady was a little slow and at one point I got impatient. I got over it because I got to church in time.

What was your theme colour?
Teddy: White and silver with a drop of baby pink. My dream wedding has always been a white affair and added pink to make it more vibrant.

What did you enjoy the most?
Cornelius: I enjoyed each and every moment of the day because everything went on as planned.
Teddy: I enjoyed everything, especially the fact that the church was full and every guest looked happy at the reception.

What was going through your mind during the ceremony?
Cornelius: I was relieved that this wedding had finally ended after close to three years of planning for it.
Teddy: I was relaxed because I trusted all the committee members. The whole day was about me and my dearest husband.

Who comprised your entourage?
Cornelius: My close friends, I have known them since childhood.
Teddy: Most of them were my in-laws and one was my niece. They had requested to be part of my wedding from the time we started dating.

Did you go for premarital counselling?
Cornelius: Yes we did, I learnt that patience, tolerance and putting God first plus running a family as the head are important.
Teddy: Yes, we went for several sessions. Rubaga Tuesday class, family, friends and then counselling by Bishop Matthias Ssekamanya. I learnt that patience and respect for each other and most important of all putting God first in our family.

What is your advice to those planning to wed?
Cornelius: Start planning for the wedding early. Book your service providers early to avoid disappointments. Always have funds to do this and never rely on pledges from people because many pledge and never fulfil.
Teddy: Before planning a wedding, your spouse should be your friend, this eases planning because you quickly agree. Start preparations as early as possible. We planned our wedding the moment he proposed and booked all our service providers a year before our wedding.

Did you have any debts after the wedding?
Cornelius: No, everything was cleared in time
Where did you buy her ring from. What is it made of?
Cornelius: I bought it from RMY Jewellers and it is made of gold.
