MY MIND :That lucky trip

What you need to know:

MIND YOUR ACTIONS. There are times when you mistreat others without caring about the consequences.

Well, they say that the world goes around luck; some even believe that luck is mightier than trying hard, and if you don’t believe them, ask someone who won the jackpot or hefty millions in a lottery. If you still don’t believe them, then ask Osama Abdul Mohsen from Syria.
A few weeks ago no one knew who Petra László was, but then the whole world got to know her and actually everyone saw her in full action tripping a Syrian refugee who was running away from Hugarian Police while carrying his son. The man fell, his son started crying and the moments were captured by another journalist and spread like wild fire on social media forums.
And while this journalist-camerawoman entered the books of shame, Mr Osama on the other hand entered the books of fame. Not only because it was a tragic scene of a father falling and the son crying loud, but also that later on it became known to all that Osama was actually a football trainer back home in Syria. This part of the news also caught the attention of some well-wishers at the Spanish football school in Madrid/Spain, the rest is history.

My thoughts
Whenever I encounter such incidents, I remember all those comforting words of wisdom –that we never believe- shared with us to overcome adversity. Such as: there is light at the end of the tunnel, the sun always shines after a cloudy day and so on. My dear Ugandan jjaja also advised me not mind people’s harsh words and actions towards me, she often reminded me that people don’t throw stones on a fruitless tree.
However, during tragic moments most of us seem to shut off our positive sensors and become very venerable to negative feelings that allows sadness to take over, and unless one has a serious spiritual and mental training that gives one calm to be patient until it is over, we seem to sink in a deep well of depression.
I recall a true story of the elderly gentleman who was supposed to board the ill-fated Titanic, but changed his mind at the last moment and was saved from perishing with thousands of others who were on board that ship. All those people who missed flights and were angry at the time, only to find out later that something happened to that flight and they were actually lucky not to be on-board. Imagine the status of a mother who rebuked her child for absenting himself from school on a day that later on turned out to be a fatal one for her child’s classmates killed by a lunatic trigger happy shooter.
It is not easy to be calm and passive in times of hardship, but it helps to remember that everything happens for a reason. And these days, just pray that someone is filming around you, your luck and fame might be one tweet away.

DID YOU KNOW?
Petra László of N1TV was filming a group of refugees running away from police officers, when a man carrying a child in his arms ran in front of her. László stuck her leg out in front of the man, causing him to fall on the child he was carrying. He turned and remonstrated with László, who continued filming. This soon went viral, leading to the creation of a Facebook group “The Petra László Wall of Shame”.
To make matters worse, the boy got sick with a fever and was throwing up for days.
Mohsen said he plans to sue Laszlo and her former employer.
