Savour your burger in cool ambience

From the electronic menu to charming appearance, cool ambience and hygiene, Mr Tasty is a real customer magnet.
In an ever competitive and challenging world, especially in the retail fast-food, besides churning out good affordable food, business innovation and creativity are also an integral part of the equation to success. I mean, when you get down to brass tacks, whether you treat your children to X takeaway or Y they all have the same basic menu viz. An amalgam of fries, chicken burgers and the like. Appearance and ambience must never be over looked or underestimated.
This very point has not been lost to the owners of Mr Tasty (of course they are not Ugandans) who presently own no fewer than five takeaways that have become conspicuously distinct by their latest branding. The results speak for themselves and never underestimate the power of a makeover or even something as simple as a paint job; it does wonders. Call it branding or a unique selling point, nomenclature hardly matters; what is clearly important is the end result.
Of course good things do not come cheap but such factors have to be figured into any business model and written off as an expense. In any case, there is little doubt in my mind that consumers like to do business in a conducive and convivial environment and in the case of Mr Tasty the bottom line can only improve.
Interestingly, by redesigning the layout at the Lugogo Shoprite Mall one would be inclined to think that they had taken on more space to the point where they have even put in a couple of sofas not to speak of a plasma screen television.
The service counter has also been redone and they have introduced an electronic menu that is really trendy and saves one the bother of having to read from a written script. In a nutshell it simply boils down to better and optimum usage of space.
Their best offers are the so called lunch time deals that run between 1pm to 3pm and these range from as little as a beef burger plus a coke for a tenner to chicken Pilao for Shs13,000 to the hefty 10 pieces of chicken plus family pack chips and a 1.5 litre Coke for Shs70,000.
The pizzas are proving to be popular with the Mr Tasty Special being a real tour de force comprising stuffed cheese and chicken sausages with chicken tikka and chicken fajita plus tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, green pepper and black olives. I recommend the medium version which sells for Shs25,000.
A single chicken piece is Shs5,500 while 10 pieces cost Shs48,000 and do check out their zee burgers. I’m told that they are not your ordinary run of the mill burgers served around town.
The service and food is of an acceptable standard while the cleanliness is generally second to none. Offhand, I can think of a couple of joints that could borrow a leaf from Mr Tasty and would be amazed at what a cosmetic change can achieve.
