That Jesus whom believers are uncomfortable with

Sometimes when one has problems, they remember Jesus more than ever before.

What you need to know:

HIM? Has it ever occurred to you to think about the different things that transpire when you think about Jesus? Mark Kawalya finds out the supernatural that very few believers think about.

I finally put the laptop to sleep mode and rubbed my eyes. My wrist watch which lay in the couch next to me read 12.30am. I always take it off when typing away on the computer keyboard. I had been working for five hours straight tinkering with an excel sheet as I prospected a potential business venture, while researching online.
I walked to the bedroom and quietly got into bed. I could make out my wife’s silhouette as she slept soundly. She isn’t too thrilled about me working way past bedtime but most times no other hour allows for private work.

The Bible says
I reached for my phone and initiated the YouVersion bible app and groggily opened Hebrews 10:26-30. I hadn’t read my bible in four days. The words caused my eyes to pop open and I sat up straight. It read:
“ If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, ...but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I discovered the Jesus we don’t want. See, we are a generation that wants only the icing on the cake. We complain about our salaries yet we barely preform at work. We leave church on Sunday in a holy mood driving our empty cars while our brothers we just fellowshipped with walk home in the scorching sun. We lie, gossip, cheat on our taxes, are full of pride and engage in other vices with alarming finesse.

What we prefer
The only Jesus we love is the one that died for our sins, because we can gladly sin yet again. “It is finished,” Jesus said, we like to say so we are cleansed for life.
The Jesus we love is the one we run to when we lose our jobs.
We love him when we need a salary raise and when we are praying for a new car or believing him for a lifelong mate. We quote the feel good bible verses which stroke our misguidedness while neglecting the other side of Christianity heralded by the Jesus we don’t want to know.

The Jesus we don’t want
The ultimate judge when our lives are through.
The one with the eyes blazing like fire, and hair as white as snow. With feet like bronze glowing in a furnace, brandishing a double-edged sword ready to settle all accounts. Do we ever get to think about Him or do we just let live?
It was on this night that I was reminded that a persistent wayward life regardless of how many much we say we are believers, will lead to nothing but gnashing of teeth. And that is the reality that all of us are facing.
The Jesus we don’t want will simply say on that day. “Away from me you wicked generation. I do not know you.”
As Christians, we need to watch and pray at all times because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Scriptures to encourage *Let us follow Him in this, and receive the invitation in all things to “humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6-7, NIV).
* But you are the same, and Your years will have no end. The children of your servants will continue, and their descendants will be established before you” (Psalm 102:27-28). Most of all, Jesus did not hide His discouragement.
