And in the empty State-of-the-Nation Address…

Ugandans have been asking a lot of questions and I have been running my bald pate finding answers to their questions.

What you need to know:

Like those people who are supposed to help citizens fight corruption but only sleep on the job. You report corruption to them and they do nothing. What is that? I wanted to go back to the bush just to sort these kind of officials but there is the Budget Day for me to attend in a week from now, so I have decided to act on these sleeping IGG officials.

I thank you again for this opportunity to address you. Yes, in the past so many years—I know the Opposition will want me to be specific on the years but I gave them Rukungiri, they should be celebrating that—I have been coming here and each time I address you people hit your sleep millage.

So I will not speak much today, we will skip sectors such as oil and gas because it is a given that it will be very productive. I know you weren’t able to sleep comfortably before the NRM government restored peace, but don’t take sleep for granted.

The Bible says in the book of Matthew 7:7 that, “Ask and you will be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you.”

Ugandans have been asking a lot of questions and I have been running my bald pate finding answers to their questions. There were too many questions on kawukumi in the Police Force. I settled that and everyone is happy, except the big weevil itself but now that we are tightening the net on the terrorists who killed Joan Kagezi, AIGP Kaweesi, the seven Sheikhs and a UPDF Major, those questions will soon cease to come my way. The IGG issue; we shall have a new unit. The old team must explain themselves or I go back to the bush. We still got those guns.

There are other questions such as the recent kidnappings, but even those will be put in place. Before the NRM government, kidnappings weren’t investigated. Who investigated? Relatives only mounted the search for the remains of their loved ones.

But today, there is hope. You can report to police and they will investigate. Often victims have been recovered alive. Most of those recovered are those who faked their kidnap for ransom. Soon, police will be recovering other victims of kidnaps because since Susan Magara, we have shown these terrorists that we won’t tolerate criminality.

We have defeated Kony and ADF. They know they can no longer operate in Uganda so they have fled to sanctuaries in Congo with the help of the UN. Pockets of terrorists sponsored by ADF that infiltrated the country from time to time to carry out assassinations in the city is being sorted and the only terror-like individuals now remain the opposition.

In 1986, the economy was 6.6 times smaller than what the NRM government has pushed today. But there are people who don’t even know how economic development happens. They want to be experts on economy but these are people who don’t even know that in 1986 we had not yet discovered oil. Since then, we have actually discovered the use of people like Kamya, Anywar, Seeya etc etc.

We showed them the kind of democracy that the Opposition cannot afford them. Two years ago in February, we went to polls and dealt the Opposition a crushing defeat. For several days after the announcement, they were scared out of their wits and couldn’t even venture out of their bedrooms. They used social media to scare away our supporters who wanted to take to the streets and celebrate the victory. We eventually crushed their attempts to subvert the celebrations and went on with life as usual.

The Acholi have a saying, “Lwac rac pe ngyeru” (the one with rotten teeth does not laugh in public). Why are Ugandans going abroad for treatment? Ugandans like foreign things. They import pikipikis, electronic equipment, Brazilians hair etc etc and I hear they now also prefer White women and go to foreign hospitals. What for? We have fully functional health sector. You have seen me donate blood in public here. There is this white van that is part of my convoy, I use it here. But give Ugandan a chance and he will want to run to Dubai to just use the toilet and come back.

That kind of wastage must stop. Hospitals are top notch and doctors are okay. Where necessary, the NRM government will import and deploy Cuban professionals. But you others must stop this culture of importing things. I thank you all for listening.
