Until November last year, little was known about Themi Nakibuuka. An accountant by training, Nakibuuka is the only surviving daughter of lawyer Paulo Sebalu (RIP) who was a partner in Sebalu and Lule Advocates, a leading law firm in Kampala.
From the time of her father’s passing, Nakibuuka has made several claims about his death, including his hurried funeral.
Fast forward, Nakibuuka is now at the centre of the property row against her cousin, Peter Sematimba, who is accused of fraudulently transferring the late Sebalu’s property in Muyenga to his name.
The property includes the late Sebalu’s home and Muyenga Club that had been renamed Muyenga Resort Hotel, under the proprietorship of Sematimba and his wife Juliet Nantongo. Nakibuuka has also asked authorities to investigate the hurried burial of her father, alleging foul play by relatives.
Nakibuuka who lives in London now has a reason to smile after Court on Wednesday appointed her as one of the five people to administer her late father’s property. Others are retired deputy chief Justice Alice Mpagi Bahigeine, businessman Gordon Wavamuno, relatives; Dr Stephen Kijjambu and Samuel Njuki. These will manage the estate until when court pronounces itself on the matter.
