Arua-based Onduparaka in search for coach

KAMPALA.

League debutants Onduparaka will not only be hoping to pick their first maximum points when the league returns on September 6, but also have a new coach in place for the game against Express.

This is after domestic football governing body Fufa deemed Leo Adraa, their preferred choice, not to have the minimum Caf License B qualification.

“At the moment it appears the earliest he can attain that qualification is January,” stated club spokesman Adams Lematia.

“We are looking at getting an assistant coach, who will also handle the U-17 side, as we wait on coach Mathias Lule who is expected back from a trip to Germany in a month’s time,” he added.

The Arua-based club, who recently signed a two-year partnership with British online bookmakers, Betway, have made a low key start to life in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

They played out an opening day goalless draw with Soana before losing 2-0 at Bright Stars on Tuesday.

“We are keen on getting a coach who will maintain our identity and identifies with our passing style of football,” emphasised Lematia.
Also known as the Caterpillars, they boast a sizeable fan base as often witnessed when they fill their own Green Light Stadium and as evidenced in their Cinderella Uganda Cup run.

Coached by Allan Kabonge, who has since moved to Masavu, they reached the final where they lost 3-1 to Vipers then.
