Hosts UGC going for kill in Inter-Club duel

Revenge Mission. Tumusiime (2nd L) and his playing partner Dennis Onyango (2nd R), a former national amateur team player, suffered a 3/2 loss to Suresh Patel (R) and Ronald Kasozi shaking hands at the 16th hole during the first leg. The Entebbe pair will want to make amends for that loss suffered on home soil today.

KAMPALA.

Only a point separated Uganda Golf Club (UGC) and Entebbe Golf Club (EGC) when they faced off in the Britam-sponsored first leg of the Inter-Club Matchplay Championship.
On February 4, Entebbe members made good use of home advantage and tallied 18.5 points while UGC returned 17.5 points at the par-71 lakeside course. And 13 weeks later, UGC will hope to avenge that loss and win the inaugural edition of the tournament when they host Entebbe at the Johnnie Walker Blue Label-sponsored event today.

Good fight
“As we strengthen the relationship between the two clubs, we hope to put up a good fight and stay top,” said Entebbe Club vice president Oscar Semawere.
About 40 pairs will battle for points at the par-72 course with the match-ups remaining the way they were in Entebbe. “UGC members did well to keep the margin small in Entebbe,” Kitante club pro Deo Akope said. “And now at home with better handicaps, we hope to close out the small margin and win.” Akope is one of the five professionals that represented UGC in the first-leg. He squared with Robert Oluba as both sides took 2.5 points in the money-spinning category. Today, UGC will substitute Denis Anguyo, who lost to Vincent Byamukama 2-up on the 17th hole in Entebbe, with 2010 Uganda Open winner Brian Mwesigwa as they chase glory.
