Kawempe on brink, Corporate can keep within FWEL playoffs reach

Kampala.

A win against Rines SS for Victoria Group leaders Kawempe Muslim, when the two sides meet tomorrow in Wakiso, will earn the latter a place in the playoffs Fufa Women Elite League (FWEL).
Kawempe with 22 points from eight games have their work cut out against a fifth-placed Rines side (12 points) that still has a mathematical chance to make playoffs. Rines trail second placed Ajax by just five points. The two sides have their burden and worries lessened as Kawempe’s main challengers Ajax and Gafford (13) also lock horns in Buddo tomorrow in a match that neither side can afford to lose.
Should Kawempe beat Rines, a side they found resilient in a 2-1 first round home win, they would have sealed their playoffs berth with three points to spare.
In Elizabeth Group, Uganda Christian (UCU) Lady Cardinals (20 points) and Olila High School (23) will not be in action but will hope bottom side She Mak can spring-up a surprise in their encounter with Kampala Queens.
A win for Kampala Queens, on 19 points, in their penultimate group game would see them leapfrog UCU to second place to make the playoffs battle in Elizabeth even more complicated. UCU, however, still have two games to play.
During large periods of last weekend’s game, Pirates looked like a shadow of themselves before staging a comeback late on.
