Masiko eyeing back to back double against parent club

KAMPALA.

Winning trophies must have become an addiction and a drug for Vipers midfielder Tom Masiko of late.
While trophies should not entirely determine the greatness of the player, Ugandan history will record Masiko as one of those rare players that shelved a sizeable number of accolades - the same way his legendary dad Charles Baker Masiko did way back in the 1980s with KCCA.
This afternoon, Masiko, who exchanged KCCA’s blue and yellow jersey for Vipers’ black and red 11 months ago at a reportedly Shs72m transfer fee, is on the verge of scooping another double.
“I feel so grateful and very happy (for a double chance),” an elated Masiko told SCORE.
On how he feels achieving his feat against the parent club, Masiko remains unfazed.

“It is so nice and good playing against a team which has equally good players. It always reflects a good game and at the end of it, the best team takes the day.”
Masiko may have had limited play time at St Mary’s Kitende thus far but he feels proud by what he has achieved since his switch.

Long wait
“It has been a good start because I have managed to help my team win the league after a long time (Vipers had last won the league in 2015) and making it to the finals of the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup gives me double joy,” reveals Masiko joined Lugogo in 2010.
“A double is very possible with our team and I am positive we are going to make history as Vipers.”
Masiko adds that the players he had met at the national team like Nicholas Wadada, Ismail Watenga, Milton Karisa, Deus Bukenya, Moses Waiswa and Erisa Ssekisambu helped him settle in fast at Kitende and had a lot of belief and trust in his abilities.

Winning reputation
He has won four league titles (three with KCCA), one Uganda Cup and now looks forward to adding the latest one that pits Vipers and KCCA at Bukedea Grounds today.
“I’m naturally a born champion that is my motto as it is with Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid and Portugal star).”
