Micho sure goals will rain at Lugogo

KAMPALA. So endowed is Uganda Cranes’ attacking arsenal that head coach Micho Sredojevic has ruled out any possible shock against South Sudan this afternoon in the Chan return leg tie at Lugogo.
Cranes were unfortunate to draw with Bright Stars in Juba last weekend, but have a seemingly simpler task at hand at home today.
“We have played seven Chan matches since July 2013 when we beat Tanzania; we have won five and drawn only two. We have scored 12 goals and conceded two and we have never conceded away from home. “This gives me confidence going into this match,” Micho revealed.
The Serbian acknowledges the task at hand, if Uganda is to stay on course on making it to the fourth Chan finals appearance in Kenya next year, is to score goals in gluts and avoid conceding recklessly.
Micho saw his side miss six clear chances including a penalty by skipper Geoffrey Sserunkuma in the 0-0 draw in Juba but is optimistic the fortunes will change after the thorough preps. “We have improved our defence. We are going for counter attacks and correcting our conversion rate. The goals will come. We expect no shock at all,” Micho stressed.
South Sudan are ranked 143th by Fifa, 69 places behind 74th seeded Uganda, so the home match could pass as a ‘David vs Goliath’ affair. Micho however reckons South Sudan won’t be push overs; “They have a good goalkeeper, stable defence, confident midfield and sharp strikers. We want this match the most because it is the pillar of our next World Cup game against Egypt (on August 31).”
The last two encounters between the neighbours have ended in draws. A scoring draw of any margin will knockout Cranes.
