Flavia Namakula might still be nine titles short of legendary Alice Kego’s record but can remain contented forever after she won her third title to seal her place among the greatest Ugandan lady golfers.
It is no wonder that the golfing soldier repeatedly told every journalist that she would now try to join the professional ranks. Sweden-based Norah Mbabazi Kagonyera is the only Ugandan lady pro.
Last weekend’s victory was Namakula’s third win in five years. “I’m planning to turn professional. I have played enough of amateur golf and won a lot. The time is right,” said Namakula after her huge 12-stroke triumph over Tanzanian Angel Eaton.
