Nsimbe says Obua has allowed him to sit back

The 3-1 whacking at the hands of Bright Stars was not the welcome George ‘Best’ Nsimbe and David Obua wanted on the Maroons bench.
The number one and two coaches at the Luzira side were starting a partnership in earnest that could see them work together for at least the next three years.
Obua, who did his coaching badges in Scotland and locally, was officially confirmed as Nsimbe’s assistant just recently, the latter himself having taken charge in time for this new campaign.
“It is early days,” said Nsimbe of the defeat at Bright Stars, “We should address some of the areas we fell short in time for our next game.”
Maroons welcomed champions Vipers to Luzira on Tuesday in their second StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) match.
Nsimbe believes their opening defeat only works to get them back on track to their season target.
“We want to avoid the relegation fight as much as possible,” said one of KCCA’s former title winning coaches, Nsimbe.
“Last season Maroons finished 10th, this season we want to finish about seventh or sixth.
“The next season top five is our ultimate priority and after that, we should be in position to maybe challenge for titles.
“But we shall continue playing and working hard, you never know in football and life generally, sometimes targets are achieved earlier than planned.”
To help him chase his cause Nsimbe has added experience to his squad, bringing in former URA winger Brian Majwega, ex-Police defender Martin Mpuuga and veteran Dan Wagaluka from Water.
“Brian gives me good options in attack, Mpuuga returns to add to the experience of our captain Okello Sylvester, and Dan Wagaluka can give me some good 60 to 70 minutes,” said Nsimbe.
But more importantly, Nsimbe has a trusted partner in crime in the dugout in Obua, a man he is proud to work with.

Good boy David
“David is a good boy,” narrated Nsimbe, smiling, “Most people don’t understand him but he is a very good boy.
“I gave him the training. We plan and agree on what to do and I let him implement.
“I’m relieved because I get to take a back seat and watch him work from a distance. He is a good boy, good coach.” But no Obua story is complete without a touch of mischief here and there.
Maroons players that come off as mediocre have already felt his temperamental side. Smile!
“At times he gets angry with them,” explained Nsimbe, chuckling, “He played at the highest level and at times when these boys are not doing well what he is telling them he wonders why on earth they can’t (laughs).
“But also when I ask him ‘But I told you this and you haven’t done it, why?’ He tells me ‘Slowly I’ll get there. It takes time.’ And then I remind him, ‘See, same with those players. Slowly by slowly.’”
As Nsimbe and Obua work to get things running smoothly in the dugout, they will hope the players equally implement soonest on the pitch.
