Singo bank on Bisaso for relief

SOCCER. Earlier this week, former Express coach Bisaso disclosed that he had buried the hatchet and will rejoin Singo to help them as a coach for a while as he awaits for his visa that will see him travel to Sweden for a coaching course.

KAMPALA. To many, it’s the hard truth. Just on Thursday, the Masaza Cup organising committee awarded Singo - now looking to better days in the tournament - with a newly recruited coach Shafik Bisaso, with three points and three goals despite not winning any game as of yet.
It was after a ruling from the Sulaiman Ssejjengo-led committee, where Butambala who had earlier shared the spoils with Singo last week, got punished for fielding an ineligible player - a one Patrick Sserunjogi.
But despite being given free points, many a fan will be excused if they move on to support another team because Singo haven’t yet shown any desire to go past the group phase.

Poor shifts
Singo possess an enviable fan base only comparable to that of Buddu. But the team has been punching way below their weight since this season got underway. Such a scenario calls for a better performance when they hosts Kyaggwe at Mityana Playground tomorrow.
The fixture is literally their last chance to prove to their faithful that they still have a stomach for a fight. Anything less than victory could see them bow out with their tails between their legs. The pressure remains intense. They have conceded two goals, scored one, drew twice and lost one game against Mawogola.
And in new coach Shafik Bisaso, who was tutored them before moving to Gomba, they have a warrior of a coach who knows lift morale three-fold when all chips are seeming down.

On-form Kyaggwe
Their opponents on the day, Kyaggwe are in fine fettle. They boast of seven points thus far.
In a nutshell, Singo must shed some skin and pull up their socks with the Masaza Cup taking a semi-professional outlook.
In all fairness, it’s these teams; Singo, Buddu, Gomba and Mawokota who set the pace in Masaza Cup 14 years ago.
Seeing them crumbling could discourage fans, keep the sponsors away and soil their reputation, according to the county’s Head of Communications Bastu Ssemuyaba. “It’s unbelievable. The results are not coming our way,” Ssemuyaba revealed to SCORE. Singo were the first side to win the finals held at Mandela National Stadium, Nambooole.
