Sports Desk predicts Man City to win EPL

Most folks on Daily Monitor's sports desk believe Man City will retain the EPL trophy

KAMPALA.

With the World Cup euphoria gone, football fans are once again bracing themselves for another nine months of English Premier League football featuring the best managers like Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho and new man Unai Emery among others.
But which club do our writers think will win the title in 2018-19? Which three clubs will go down? And who will finish as top scorer? Here are their answers.

Mark Namanya – Sports Editor
Manchester City will win because they have the best coach in the game and possess a squad at its peak, balanced and rich in depth. Their identity is a joy to behold.
Fulham, Huddersfield and Crystal Palace will go down. I am backing Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane to lift the golden boot.

Innocent Ndawula – Score Editor & Sub Editor
Liverpool to end years of hurt. They beat top sides with blistering attacking last season and more recently have shown their ambition in transfer market.
Cardiff City, Huddersfield and Southampton will not survive the drop whereas Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will be top scorer.

Manchester City remain as strong as last season and their rivals have not done enough to cut down that 19-point gap from last season. Riyad Mahrez will make them stronger and they must be hungry to go back-to-back for the first time.
However, Brighton, Huddersfield and Southampton will be relegated.

I don’t see anyone challenging Manchester City to the crown this season. I am also going for Pierre Aubemayang to score the most goals.
Newcomers Cardiff City and Wolves will be relegated alongside Southampton.

Denis Bbosa - Reporter
Man City will win the trophy and I am tipping Pierre Aubameyang to be the top scorer.
Manager Pep Guardiola always establishes a three-year league juggernaut wherever he goes. It took him a season to piece up this balanced side that will be more emboldened by Riyad Mahrez’s arrival.

Elvis Ssenono - Reporter
I am going for Liverpool to end their long drought to win the EPL. Huddersfield, Cardiff City and AFC Bournemouth will go down.

Regina Nalujja - Reporter
I believe Manchester United will win the trophy. Wolves, Fulham and Huddersfield will be relegated. It will be an interesting league.

Brian Mugenyi - Reporter
I am backing Manchester City to retain the league crown. Fulham, Brighton and Wolves will not survive the relegation monster.

Liverpool. By virtue of their business in the transfer market, they surely don’t want to make it a three-decade wait for the English Premier League title. Jurgen Klopp has more eggs in the tray so he should easily make the omelette. Huddersfield, Cardiff City and Wolves will not survive the drop. For the top scorer, it will be a three-horse race between Romelu Lukaku, Pierre Aubameyang and Harry Kane.

I don’t know who will be relegated but one thing is certain Manchester City will retain the trophy.

George Katongole - Reporter
Even though I am an Arsenal fan, I believe Manchester City are favourites to finish in the top spot.
Newcastle, Cardiff City and Brighton will be relegated.
