Team Uganda eager to floor Kenyans

KAMPALA.
Team Uganda will go into the first leg of the 2017 FIM Africa Central Africa Motocross championship (CAC) confident of keeping the perennial rivals Kenya at bay.
The two-day event starts this morning with the first heat at the Motorsports Arena, Busiika.
The event also counts towards the third round of the National Motocross Championship with riders scoring points.
Confident is the word as Team Uganda captain Maxime van Pee gauges the team’s chances of gaining the upper hand at Busiika.
“The past 12 months have seen us (Team Uganda) performing well in continental and regional meets. I am confident the trend will continue this year beginning with this weekend (today),” Maxime the reigning regional MX1 champion told SCORE.
He went on: “The Kenyans have entered a strong team in MX85 but with Stav (Orland), Fortune (Ssentamu) and Walid (Omar) we shall take them on. We are also strong in MX125 with ‘Bobo’ and Alestair but in MX2 we are a little weak with only Fatuh Kiggundu and Yasin Kasirye.
In the recent past, Uganda were the kings of the MX50-85 class but Kenya have gradually improved their rating in the lower category.
In MX1 class, Maxime, Olivier van Pee, Asaf Natan and Arthur Blick Jr are expected to ‘sandwich’ Ngungi Waweru, who is Kenya’s lone rider in the class.
