Tibita carries Bul’s rare hopes for top four finish

Different Challenge. Coach Peter Onen.

KAMPALA. A decade after manifesting through Bidco Uganda’s departmental staff competitions, Jinja side Bul believe they are now ready to break the top four hegemony.
A sixth finish, then under now Express coach Kefa Kisala, last season was a decent race for Bul by any stretch of imagination.
But under new man Peter Onen, also the U17 coach, Bul’s striker Hamis Tibita believes the club enter their 11th year confident of moving forward, upwards.
The team’s star player, having scored six league goals for Bul last season – earning him a call-up to the U20 national team in the process, is well qualified to harbour such ambitions ahead of the topflight kick off on September 28.
“My personal target is scoring 14 goals this season,” the striker told Daily Monitor, “And our target as Bul is to finish in the top four. That is the desire that the whole club badly has.”

Stronger as a team
“We are not a team of stars but as a team we are good enough to push for that top four target.”
Tabita is inspired by Bul old boy Milton Karisa when it comes to senior national team ambitions.
“If Karisa from Bul can play at Uganda Cranes, then I can also play there,” said Tibita. Karisa has since moved to Morocco side Mouloudia Club Oujda from Vipers)
“I’m working very hard every day to take that opportunity when it comes.”
Right back Umar Mukobe, goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo and forwards Villa Oromchan and Richard Wandyaka are the other players coach Onen will count on for their season charge.
One could not have arrived at Bul at a better time for both the coach and club.
But were we’re looking for fresh coaching blood, who also understands youth football well, to take them another step forward.
They do not come bigger than Onen.
Fresh from guiding the national U17 team - the Cubs - to 2019 Caf Africa Youth Championship finals, Onen is also tasked with ensuring Bul junior side keep feeding the senior outfit.

Career chance
“It’s a big opportunity for me as Bul are a big club, not only in the region (Eastern Uganda) but also in Uganda,” said Onen on his unveiling.
“This comes with a big responsibility. I will work hard day and night to make the Bul family and supporters happy,” added the Caf A license holder and graduate of psychology from the University of Pontifical Urbaniana in Kenya.
Well, the stage is well set for Onen to make that family and supporter happy.
