Title celebrations due at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea players acknowledge applause from their fans soon after rallying to defeat Leicester 3-1 at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night. Jose Mourinho’s Blues can now seal the title at home against Crystal Palace tomorrow. Photo by AFP

Tottenham 2 Man City 2
Man City need a major summer overhaul if they are to regain their mojo next season. The outgoing champions were ran ragged by Aston Villa and must count themselves lucky to have won. A trip to North London usually brings the best out of Yaya Toure and company. Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane will be in a shoot-out for the golden boot.

Chelsea 2 C. Palace 0
If, as expected, Chelsea are crowned champions this season, they will look to strong leadership, good man management and the right signings as the combination that brought them silverware. I find suggestions that the West Londoners are boring to be diversionary. That said, I expect a stylish Chelsea win tonight.
West Ham 1 Burnley 0
Burnley are the hardest working team. Sadly, they are also one of the most limited. Their principal Achilles Heel has been inability to convert their chances, with last weekend’s missed penalty against relegation rivals Leicester virtually putting paid to their survival hopes. Though Hammers have lost steam, they will win this time.

Man Utd 3 West Brom 1
Record champions Man United played their worst game under Louis van Gaal at Goodison Park. The Red Devils must learn how to cope with the absence of Michael Carrick. All the good football United have played this season has come with the former England international at the heart of proceedings in central midfield. Old Trafford will prove impenetrable for the Brummies.
Leicester 2 Newcastle 1
Leicester City are among the top five in the current form table whereas Newcastle United are at very the bottom of the ladder. Before John Carver took over, no manager had ever suffered seven consecutive defeats. It would be a minor miracle if the listless Magpies were to stave off the onslaught of Andrej Kramaric and David Nugent this weekend.

Hull City 1 Arsenal 1
Arsenal have finished the season like a whirlwind. Although their winning streak came to a shuddering halt at home to Chelsea last Sunday, they have collected more points than any other team in the second half of the season. Hull City are certain to provide stout opposition but they don’t have the quality to stop the Gunners’ march to second place.

Liverpool 2 QPR 2
Without Daniel Sturridge Liverpool have looked desperately short upfront. Brendan Rodgers needs to offload Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert and replace them with genuine goal poachers if the five-time European champions are to challenge for the title next season.

Aston Villa 1 Everton 1
This is a clash between two teams in good shape. Everton have won five out of their last six matches whereas Aston Villa are playing their best football in two years. I like the Villains’ shape and energy being exhibited by Christian Benteke, Charles Nzogbia and new kid on the block Jack Grealish. The Toffees should still be good for a point.

Sunderland 1 South’pton 1
Despite Jermaine Defoe’s valiant efforts, a dearth of goals remains the principal problem with Sunderland. Southampton boast the league’s best defensive record, so it is hard to envisage how Sunderland are going to net at least two goals to win this game. Sadio Mane has been unplayable while Graziano Pelle is back among the goals.
Swansea 1 Stoke City 1
Swansea are the team most afflicted by a Jekyll and Hyde split personality. They win games you don’t expect them to and lose those they would otherwise walk over. Stoke will pose them some problems and in the continued absence of Bafetimbi Gomis, I can’t see Nelson Oliveira delivering the goals he needs to dispose of Mark Hughes’ plucky Stoke.
