The Uganda National Students association (UNSA) is to elect new office bearers on January 7. Polls will be conducted at the Uganda Technical College in Mbale.
“We are proud that despite having many problems in the association, we hand over power on time and smoothly,” Mr Davis Akampurira, the association president told journalists in Kampala on December 31.

UNSA is an umbrella association that brings together post primary students in Uganda.

It runs with the guidance and advice of a patron. Mr Akampurira says the association is under-funded because students under the Universal Secondary Education (USE) programme no longer subscribe to it.

The association speaker, Mr John Apollo Oloo said that the elections would be conducted under the supervision of Sironko District’s deputy resident district commissioner and former member, Mr Katto Matanda.

The latter was appointed by the Ministry Education following misunderstandings between the association executive committee.
