Kampala
Over 1,500 pupils at Sentigi, Gita and Jomba-Masuliita are to acquire free education from schools within their localities in the new term that begins today.

Building Tomorrow-Uganda, a non government organization, constructed the school facilities on land donated by local communities.

Mr Joseph Bagambaki Kaliisa, the director of Building Tomorrow-Uganda said his organisation signed a memorandum of understanding with districts in the central region to construct school infrastructure in areas where government was not been able to provide it.

He revealed that three more schools are under construction in Kyeyitabya in Kiboga District, Nagojje in Mukono and Mpigi.

“We acquired and in some areas purchased land, constructed structures comprising of classrooms, offices, la ibrary block and sanitation areas. The district will run the schools by recruiting teachers and paying them while the community will ensure sustainability, while we monitor progress and quality,” Mr Kaliisa said.

The director noted that the project is unique because the community is involved to ensure their children acquire education without bearing risks of long distances.
