The Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) has accredited Makerere University’s Bachelor of Architecture programme.
The College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology Communication Officer, Betty Kyakuwa said the team first inspected the teaching environment looking at the learning equipment at the college.
The CAA accredits architectural programmes in all universities in commonwealth countries. The review and accreditation are carried out every after five years. Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the College Principal was pleased with this achievement and urged the university to use the opportunity to improve architectural work in the country.
The head of Department of Architecture, Dr Stephen Mukiibi said: “The Department seeks to stimulate future architects to think and learn more widely about their art, about the vast spectrum of sources from which they legitimately can and should draw inspiration, and about the impact that their work will bring to the development of the nation.”
