New computer courses started at Bugema University

Bugema University has started new information technology (IT) courses in the academic market.
According to the head of department of Computing & Technology, Mr Francis Lowu, the new courses are designed to cater for the increasing need for professionals in the area of computer network administration and software development.
Bugema University is a chartered institution of higher learning in Uganda founded on the doctrine of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
The university attracts students from East and Central Africa. The new courses include BSc. Computer Network and System Administration, BSc. Software Engineering and Application Development.
Lowu says the courses are directed towards the market needs. “Software development is still a challenge in most developing countries and the courses were designed towards solving such problems,” he said.
He explained that the university already offers courses such as Bachelor of Business Administration and Business Information Systems which is run in the School of Business. “BBA (BIS) is a course designed towards solving employment problems, as students are given both IT and business knowledge to be able to create their own jobs and employs others,” he said.
