A former child body guard to Dominic Ongwen is among the 680,860 P7 candidates who are sitting the ongoing Primary Leaving Exams (PLE).

William George Ecodu, 22 years, a pupil of Olive Primary School in Soroti was abducted in 2003 by the LRA rebels during their incursion in Teso, while he was a pupil at Morugantuny Primary School in Amuria District.

The confident Ecodu who was full of smiles before entering his Mathematic paper told Daily Monitor that by the grace of God that rescued him from the captivity of the LRA in 2013 will help him pass his examinations.

One of his teachers, Robert Okello, said that Ecodu who joined them in 2013, is one of their hardworking and committed pupils.

“We are confident, he will make it,” he said.

During his reunion with his family in their home village of Morugantuny in Orungo County, Ecodu testified to having been one of the many child body guards who were attached to Dominic Ongwen who is facing various counts for crime against humanity during the time he was in the bush.
