Kyambogo admits 14,000 on private scheme

What you need to know:

  • Kyambogo University academic registrar Dr Peter Okello told Daily Monitor that students can pick their admission letters from their respective faculties as early as next week and each applicant is expected to present his/her Identity Card from their former schools, O-Level result slip as well as A-Level result slip.
  • Students do not need to pay any money to get the admission letters. However, they have been encouraged to pay their fees before the semester opens.

KAMPALA. More than 14,000 students have been admitted to Kyambogo University on private scheme to study various courses.
According to the list that was released yesterday by the acting deputy registrar admissions, Ms Estheri Sekasi, 14,236 students have been admitted and they are slated to start studying on August 12.

She said in this academic year, the university has admitted more students compared to 2016/17 where the institution admitted about 11,500 students.
Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance has the highest number of students admitted followed by Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Education on both evening and day programmes.

Bachelor of Accounting admitted 1,966, Education admitted 1,356 and Business administration admitted 1,209 students. He notes that students are supposed to report to campus on August 5, after which they are expected to go through an orientation for one week.

He, however, noted that much as the university registered an increase in the number of students they admitted, some course have reduced on the number of students they admitted while others increased basing on the available space. Students do not need to pay any money to get the admission letters. However, they have been encouraged to pay their fees before the semester opens.
