Audio: Student arrested trying to chain self at MUK main gate in protest

Police at Makerere have arrested one of the student leaders for attempting to chain himself at the main gate, protesting the closure of Makerere University.

According to the officer in charge of Makerere, Denis Kasibante, the student identified as Simon Wanyera , a guild representative council of school of education has been taken to Wandegeya police station where he is being detained.

“We have arrested him, because he was planning to chain himself in front of the main gate,” Mr Kasibante said adding that police is still patrolling around the university to make sure that everything is secure.

Wanyera was got from Ham towers opposite Makerere university main gate with a chain and a pad lock, after which he was forcefully dragged to a police van.
