Karamoja. The Uganda Certificate of Examination (UCE) exams have kicked off with no complaints among students and teachers in various schools in Karamoja sub-region.
In all schools visited by Daily Monitor in Moroto District by 7.30am, students were ready for the exams which are collected by head teachers from various police stations by 7.30am.
By 9.00am, students were already in their examination rooms and examination papers were distributed to them by 9.20am.
Despite the schools starting exams at the right time, head teachers are expressing concern over how to recover fees from fees defaulters.

The head teacher of Moroto High School, Fr John Bosco Kutegana, said the school has a total of 137 Senior Four students but majority of them have not cleared school fees causing a deficit of Shs14 million.
He noted that all the registered students have turned up for the exams. Fr Kutegana said all the students, including fees defaulters, have been allowed to sit for their exams.
“We have allowed them to sit for the exams then we shall see how the school can recovere the money when results are released,” he said.
