Victorious among top PLE performers

Victorious Nursery and Primary School, Kampala, emerged among the top performers in the PLE results with more than 95 per cent of their pupils in Division One.

The results released by the Uganda National Examinations Board show that of the 131 candidates that sat the exams at the Kampala campus, 113 emerged in Division One.

Another school, Uganda Martyrs Primary School in Masaka scored 100 percent first grades. Of the 91 candidates who sat PLE last year, all scored first grade with 11 of them scoring aggregate 4 while five got aggregate 5.

General performance

UNEB chairperson, Prof Mary Okwakol Overall said that performance shows that male candidates performed better than females but females performed better in English.

Fort Portal Municipality, Entebbe, Ntungamo, Rukungiri, Jinja, Kabale, Masaka, Mbarara, Lira, Masindi were best districts with 98 percent and above pass rate.

Serere, Namutumba, Bulambuli, Kyankwanzi, Iganga, Kaliro, Mayuge, Kween, Luuka, and Buyende were the worst performing districts.

Boys did better than girls with 541,089 (87percent) passing, compared to 517,889 (86.2percent) the previous year. More pupils qualify to join post primary institutions.
