The Member of Parliament for Matheniko County in Moroto District, Mr Samuel Abura Pirir, has said he will stand as an independent candidate in next year’s general elections.
Mr Abura lost the race to be the Matheniko County parliamentary seat NRM flag bearer to Mr John Baptist Lokwii.
Mr Abura yesterday claimed that votes in Kodonyo, Kosiroi and Lotelakapith polling stations were rigged in favour of Mr Lokwii.
Disbelief
“I can not believe this was an election. It was total nonsense not election. I tried to complain to the police and RDC who is also the chairman of the district security committee but I was seen as a fool. Let them remain in NRM,” he said.
Daily monitor has also learnt that several aspirants who lost in various positions in NRM primary elections in Karamoja sub-region are plan to stand as independent candidates in next year’s elections.
