A junior minister has been accused of selling ghost land in Mbale Municipality. However, Mr Michael Werikhe, the State Minister for housing, said he has never sold the said land and that the person mentioned as the owner of the land is not his daughter.

A resident of the municipality, Mr Gomeyi Wobujje, allegedly bought the land from the minister on January 12, 2009, at Shs22 million. Mr Wobujje said a year after, Mr Werikhe has denied ever selling land to him, thereby frustrating his bid to get a land title from the Uganda Land Commission.

According to Mr Wobujje, Mr Werikhe said he has never sold the land because it belongs to his wife.

An agreement drawn by Dagira & Co. Advocates, seen by Daily Monitor indicates that Mr Wobujje bought the land in question on January 22, 2009, from Ms Annet Nasikye, the minister’s daughter.
