Gulu District Woman Member of Parliament, Ms Betty Aol Ochan, has called on people to support girls education to promote development.

The legislator made the remarks while speaking during celebrations to mark the girls education week at Gulu University on Tuesday.

“Girls do not drop out of school by choice but lack of guidance and support from their parents,” Ms Ochan said. She noted that the high dropout rate among the girls could be reduced if efforts to support them are prioritised including physical and financial motivations.

Ms Ochan said attitudes of parents are pivotal in keeping girls at school.
