A disconnection officer with Umeme Limited is nursing a series of dog bites to his right leg after a customer reportedly let a vicious dog loose on him.
Vincent Kiseka was on a routine disconnection exercise in Mawanga Zone, Buziga on Monday when the pastor released a German shepherd which bit him.
The suspect’s electricity had just been disconnected over non-payment of bills.
Mr Kiseka has reported the matter to Buziga police post. According to the statement, Kiseka is said to have approached the suspect’s home at about 11.30am on Monday and was let into the compound after identifying himself to a lady.
A spot check is said to have revealed that the suspect’s electricity meter number coincided with an unpaid bill of Shs800, 000.
Kiseka then issued a disconnection notice and disconnected the power supply.
As he left the premises, the suspect, produced a receipt indicating he had made a Shs500,000 payment on the bill the previous week. Kiseka advised that even with an unpaid balance of Shs300,000, his bill was still big and that he still had to be disconnected.
The suspect is said to have gone behind his house and released his German shepherd that bit Kiseka. Umeme’s Corporate Communications Manager Charlotte Kemigyesha said the company would monitor the case up to its logical conclusion.
