Democratic Party presidential candidate Norbert Mao was this morning, at about 10.30 a.m., involved in a road accident. This occurred 4km to Hoima Town as his convoy travelled to Midwestern Uganda where he was set to begin his campaign.

Sources indicate that the initial suspicion is that one of the driving shafts on one of the front wheels of the vehicle Mr Mao was travelling in may have snapped causing the car to lose control and subsequently overturn.

All the occupants in the vehicle are not in any immediate danger. Police are at the scene of the accident taking statements and carrying out preliminary observations and investigations.
