The Hoima Municipality parliamentary candidate, Mr Hillary Bisoborwa, is canvassing for votes on a bicycle.

Mr Bisoborwa said riding a bicycle gives him the opportunity to keenly observe infrastructure for action to be taken to improve the road network if elected to power.

He said: “I want to feel the potholes in areas that I will represent in Parliament once elected.”

He said the exercise will help him take serious action to work on the poor roads so that people in those areas can reap from having a good road network.

Mr Bisoborwa, who recently quit his teaching job at St Mary’s Primary School in Bujumbura for politics, said in all areas he has traversed in Hoima, roads are in a sorry state and need immediate attention.

He is contesting as an independent candidate against the second deputy prime minister and minister for public service, Mr Henry Kajura, and FDC’s Jolly Patrick Baguma.

Meanwhile, Ms Irene Namuga, who is running as an independent candidate for the Kiboga District Woman MP seat, has pledged to bridge the differences between central government and the Mengo establishment.

Ms Namuga, who was launching her campaigns at Kiboga Saaza ground in Kiboga Town this week, said if elected she will endeavour to fail the passing of traditional and cultural leaders Bill, saying it seeks to reduce the powers of the Kabaka.
