Happy New Year. Despite several challenges the country faced in 2011, President Museveni insists that all is well and promises Ugandans a better 2012.

In what will come as a surprise to Members of Parliament, President Museveni has praised them for their stand against corruption.

The Ninth Parliament has come out strongly against ministers and other public servants who are seen to be corrupt. In his new year message, Mr Museveni said, “While I salute the 9th Parliament for their efforts in this endeavour, I urge them to take time to verify any claims and work with the investigative institutions towards this end, avoiding undue excitement that might hamper the correct procedures.”

He promised his government’s commitment to stump out the vice in 2012. A group of young MPs, championing the fight against graft in Parliament have often gone against agreed party position and have been labelled as ‘rebels’ by some party members.
