In Summary
The government does not recognise any of the rivalling claimants to the Busoga Kyabazingaship, President Museveni said on Saturday, breaking his silence on the feud that has engulfed the kingdom for more than a year.

“The central government does not recognise any of the two,” said Mr Museveni in direct reference to princes Columbus Wabuzi Muloki and Gabula Nadiope who are claiming to be the legitimate Kyabazinga following the death of Henry Wako Muloki in September 2008. “We are working with the Ssabalangira Wakholi with all their Princes of Busoga at Bugembe,” the President added.
Mr Museveni was speaking at a public rally held at Butembe Primary School in Kamuli District on Saturday, a press statement from his office said.
The President was visiting the district to commission a water project by the army’s engineering brigade during celebrations to mark the UPDF’s Army Day.
Mr Museveni’s comments were prompted by inquest from Deputy Speaker Rebecca Kadaga who asked the NRM leader to pronounce himself on the thorny subject of the Busoga’s succession troubles. The President told his audience that the issue of the Kyabazingaship lies squarely with the 11 royal chiefs who form an electoral college.
