Kisoro Grade One magistrate David Cheptuke Kaye was on Wednesday remanded to Ndorwa Prison in Kabale District after he pleaded not guilty to charges of soliciting a bribe.

Court presided over by Grade One magistrate Jude Okumu, remanded the accused untill March 3 when his case shall be ready for mention.
The State prosecutor, Mr Thomas Okoth, told court that investigations into the matter were still going on, adding that once they are complete the case against Mr Kaye will be taken to the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala for adequate handling.

Mr Cheptuke was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly received a bribe of Shs100,000 from John Bosco Nyundo, who wanted bail for his relatives Scovia Busingye and Denis Musekura. The two were being charged in Kisoro magistrate’s court over allegedly destroying the sweet potato gardens of Rev. Innocent Nshizirungu of Nyakabande Sub-county in Kisoro.
