A Shs170 million home for needy and vulnerable children will be constructed at Mirange village in Kyenjonjo District.
Fountain of Peace (FOP), a non-government organisation, will set up the home.

Helping orphans
FOP chairperson Jack Sabiiti said at the weekend that the centre will house a primary and secondary school, a clinic, a church, hostels and play grounds for the children. He said the centre will mainly target orphans.

“We want to give an opportunity to vulnerable children and uplift their standards of living by giving them accommodation, education, medical care regardless of their backgrounds,” he said. He said they will also intervene in the child-headed families to give their members a meaningful life.
The children centre that is supported by FOP in the United Kingdom will start with over 100 children.

Mr Sabiiti said communities near the centre will benefit from facilities like a borehole that will be drilled at the school. Kyenjojo District Chairman James Byamukama urged residents to support the project.
The FOP Children Centre is the second in the district after Bringing Hope to the Family which takes care of over 500 orphans.
