Anne Mugisha joins Nakawa MP race

By Gerald Bareebe

Forum for Democratic Change’s Anne Mugisha yesterday launched her bid to unseat State Minister for Justice Fred Ruhindi for the Nakawa parliamentary seat.
Addressing a press conference at Naguru Community Centre in Kampala yesterday, Ms Mugisha said Mr Ruhindi has failed to use his clout in cabinet to bring positive change in Nakawa.

“I have chosen to make the announcement in Naguru because this community embodies the challenges that are faced by constituents of Nakawa and greater Kampala,” Ms Mugisha said.

“The community is dealing with the challenges of a rapidly expanding urban centre that creates both opportunities and difficulties for those living in or close to the metropolitan area.”

Ms Mugisha, the party’s external relations coordinator, said she would advocate better health services for the people of Nakawa, as well as ensure that residents of Nakawa-Naguru estates who are living under fear of eviction from their homes are given assurance of continuity of their residence.

She joined active opposition politics in 2000 as a publicity secretary for the Elect Kizza Besigye Task Force.
