Katureebe shocked by absence of ministers at anti corruption event

Justice Katureebe

At Anti Corruption Court

Chief Justice Bart Katureebe got bossy while presiding over the Anti Corruption Court open day baraza on Thursday in Kololo when he wondered how the whole Chief Justice of Uganda can have a function and no cabinet minister is in attendance.

Justice Katureebe got bossy when he was stressing a point that there is need to channel more resources in fight against the cancer of corruption and yet there was no minister who could carry the message to cabinet for legislation of tougher laws to fight corruption.

“I am sorry the ministers are not here because these are policy things. I don’t know why they choose not to come for things like this. Again, this is something... the Chief Justice of Uganda has a function but the ministers are not here.” CJ Katureebe lamented causing laughter among the participants.

ICC registrar secretly greets Chief Justice Katureebe

The registrar of the International Crimes Court (ICC), Mr  Herman Von Hebel on Thursday morning secretly had a one minute greeting with Chief Justice Bart Katureebe in Kampala.

It was secret in that despite journalists being present at the venue where the two legal minds met, no journalist was allowed to take a picture or video recording when the exchange of the pleasantries between the two happened.

Daily Monitor understands that there was a move to have all the cameras around the venue confiscated to ensure that no journalist takes a picture of the ICC registrar shake hands with CJ Katureebe but the public relations gurus present, thought twice that the high handiness on journalists would cause a scene and backfire.

Daily Monitor again understood that the reason why the ICC registrar did not want to be photographed was that his appearance at the Kololo-based court was not on his official programme.

A visibly angry Makerere don in hitting back to the defense lawyer Friday Kagoro, assured him that he better stops referring to him as a liar.
