The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Mr Ibin Ssenkumbi, said those arrested were later released on caution after hours of being detained at CPS.
Police yesterday arrested more than 15 youths at City Hall demonstrating against the Lord Mayor, Mr Erias Lukwago, for allegedly failing to make any significant change in the city.
The youth, who attempted to drag Mr Lukwago out of office, were intercepted by police officers led by the commander of Central Police Station (CPS), Mr James Ruhweza.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Mr Ibin Ssenkumbi, said those arrested were later released on caution after hours of being detained at CPS.
“We arrested them as they attempted to storm into City Hall to attack the Lord Mayor. They have been, however, released after serious caution,” Mr Ssenkumbi said.
The group said Mr Lukwago was only involved in Kampala politics.
This is the second time the Lord Mayor is attacked by a group of demonstrators since he took charge of the city in 2011.
Mr Lukwago at the onset of his regime requested Parliament to amend the 2010 KCCA Act to streamline the roles of the Lord Mayor and the Executive Director if the city was to run smoothly.
