Retired Archbishop Nkoyoyo funeral programme changed

President Museveni has mourned retired Archbishop Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo who died on Friday morning describing him as a principled shepherd of the flock and a religious leader whose actions matched his words.

"Heard about the passing of retired Archbishop Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo. He was a principled shepherd of the flock. A religious leader whose actions matched his words. He was also passionate on improving the welfare of his flock and led by example. He will be missed. May he rest in peace," said Mr Museveni in a post on his social media platforms.

Meanwhile, Church of Uganda has released a revised funeral programme for the retired archbishop.

According to the new programme, his body will be at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero on Sunday between 2-5:30 pm before being taken to St Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe at 6 pm for a night vigil.

On Monday at 10 am, another service will be held at St. Philip and Andrew’s Cathedral in Mukono; thereafter the body will be taken to his home at Nakabago for an overnight service.

A special funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9am at the Anglican Shrines of the Uganda martyrs in Namugongo before burial later in the day.
