KOLE. A head teacher in Kole District has been arrested for allegedly killing his daughter.

The suspect, a resident of Aboke Sub County, was arrested by officers attached to Kole Central Police Station for allegedly beating his 13-year-old daughter, Rachael Angom, to death last Friday.

Angom was a primary six pupil at Aberdyangoto Primary School in Bala Sub-County, Kole District.

Witnesses said the teacher beat his daughter into coma for allegedly sleeping with around with men.

He was arrested on Saturday morning from his home at Agege trading centre, Bala Sub-County, and detained at Agege police post before being transferred to Kole Central Police Station.

Some residents told this reporter that the pupil had visited her a classmate on Thursday, about 4km away from home but was advised by her friend’s parents to sleep and return home the following morning since it was already late“When she returned the next morning, her father could not give her a chance to explain why she did not sleep home. He then ascended on her and beat her into comma,” said a neighbour who did not want to be named.

Upon realising she was unconscious, her father tried to rush her to Aboke health centre IV for treatment but died on the way.

Before his arrest, the suspect reportedly said he did not mean to beat his daughter to death.

“The intention wasn't to kill her but she was showing health complications of late,” he told police.

This reporter understands that the deceased was laid to rest at their home in Agege on Tuesday.
