Kampala/Jinja
Jinja Chief Magistrate court has sent Mr Jamil Mukulu, the leader of Allied Democratic Front (ADF) to Luzira Prison in Kampala after complaining of being tortured in detention and forced to “consume things” that are prohibited in his faith.
Mr John Francis Kagwa, also sent Mr Mukulu’s co-accused- Mr Mohamed Matovu and Mr Omar Abdallah, to Luzira prison where they will be detained on terrorism charges.
Mr Mukulu who was arrested in Tanzania in April 2015 has been detained at Nalufenya Special Operations Command Centre in Jinja.

Mr Mukulu who has been calm whenever he would be brought to court, lost his temper and banged the dock, complaining of continued torture by prison officers at Nalufenya.
He said: “Nalufenya is not a prison; it is a slaughter house and a pig sty. I am forced to eat pork and drink Waragi. I am also detained with rapists and defilers.’’
He accused the magistrate for being corrupt, saying ever since he was detained, he has not been charged and the officer of court is seemingly unbothered by such developments.

After a brief break, Mr Kagwa ordered Mr Mukulu to be sent to Luzira Prision.
Security at the court was beefed-up by counterterrorism police and prison officers taking position. Work court almost came to a standstill for the period Mr Mukulu was in court.
It is alleged that Mr Mukulu masterminded the murder of about 80 students at Kichwamba Technical Institute in 1998.
